70-year-old man dies in Kano pit latrine

A septuagenarian in the village of Charo Katurke, area of ​​the Gezawa local government of Kano state, Ahmadu Haladu, lost his life on Thursday after falling into a pit latrine.

The spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred around 11.30 a.m.

He said the 70-year-old deceased went to relax on the toilet when the latrine sank with him.

“We received a distress call in the early hours of today (Thursday) from an Alhaji Sani Alhaji, around 11:30 am, when the old man had fallen into the restroom. “Upon receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene around 11:45 am.

“Haladu was rescued unconscious and then confirmed dead; His body was handed over to Charo Katurke’s chief of staff, Alhaji Abdullahi Charo, “the spokesman said. Mohammed, therefore, advised the general public to stop using the old well and the pit latrine.
