Senator Borno, Ali Ndume, accepted the result of the election of the Senate Presidency on Tuesday in the Senate. Ahmed Lawan won the seat of the president of the ninth Senate with 79 votes for Ndume, who won 28 votes. Ndume, after the votes were counted, shook hands with Ahmed Lawan and congratulated him amid the applause of other legislators.
After a secret vote, the Secretary of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori, announced the victory of Lawan before the joy of the senators and others in the chamber.
“It is a pleasure for me to announce that the elected senator, Ahmed Lawan, who obtained the highest number of votes cast, is here elected as President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
