The minority leader of the Senate of Nigeria, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP-Abia South), has praised Senator Olorunnimbe Adeleke Mamora for rejecting an earlier appointment of President Muhammadu Buhari.

GISTOK recalls that Mamora is among the 43 ministerial candidates sent by Buhari to the Senate for confirmation.

Mamora, a former federal legislator, was examined Wednesday by the upper legislative chambers. It was among the 10 of the 43 nominees selected.

Recall that President Buhari appointed Mamora as president of the Abuja Investment and Infrastructure Center in 2018, an appointment he rejected.

Speaking during the screening, Senator Abaribe praised the former Lagos senator for rejecting a position he described as degrading.

He said: “We are very happy that finally, they have recognized who you are. You sat in this seat and it went very well. And they used local materials to locate you, you did not give up.

“Senator Mamora is our very good friend and he is my neighbor. We know of situations in which the senators left here and were offered positions that a senator should not take and they took.

“But Senator Mamora was offered a position and rejected it because he looked at each and every one of us and says that if I assume that position, it will degrade this Senate.”
