Amnesty International, a global human rights organization, has called for the immediate release of the AAC presidential candidate and editor of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore.
Amnesty International made the call through its official Twitter account on Saturday after Sowore’s arrest by men from the Department of State Services, DSS.
Daily Post had reported that Sowore, the convenor of Revolution Now Protests against the Buhari government, was arrested in his apartment in the early hours of Saturday.
The politician published a tweet of anguish at precisely 1:25 in the morning that says: “DSS invades the department of Sowore.”
Later, he added another tweet, which could be a confirmation that his phone must have been seized while trying to give alarm about his arrest.
Reacting, Amnesty International urged the responsible authorities to respect Sowore’s rights and release him.n The organization wrote: “We are concerned about the arrest of Omoyele Sowore by DSS agents.
“We urge the authorities to respect their rights and follow due process. “If you are not charged with any crime, you must be released immediately.” Sowore has been defending a protest against the corrupt government of Nigeria with the Revolution Now movement.
