World heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua will soon present his belts to President Buhari, a presidential assistant released Wednesday in Abuja.
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) of the President of Media and Advertising, Office of the Vice President, made the disclosure while informing the correspondents of the House of Representatives on behalf of the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare.
The briefing took place after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, December 11 in Abuja. Akande, however, said the date for the presentation of the belts had not yet been set.
“The Minister of Sports announced that Anthony Joshua will present his belts to the President in a matter of days.
“The members of the Council also expressed their gratitude for the gift of books from the Vice President that has become an annual tradition,” he said.
Joshua recently defeated Mexican-American boxer Andy Ruiz Jr. by unanimous points decision in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. The victory helped him recover the IBF, WBO, WBA and IBO heavyweight world championship belts that he lost to Ruiz Jr. in June
