The Edo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has suspended its Secretary, Mr. Lawrence Okah.
Latest Nageria newspaper report that Okah’s suspension was contained in a letter signed by Mr. Anselm Ojezua, president of the state party, and made available to Latest Nageria newspaper in the city of Benin on Friday.
According to Ojezua, the secretary was suspended, following complaints from party members in the area of the local government of Oredo, where the secretary was a leader.
Latest Nageria newspaper report that He also explained that the suspension was not a punitive measure, but purely administrative to allow the investigation of complaints.
“He was suspended to allow the established committee to examine the complaints against him. We have not expelled it, and the suspension is not punitive. It is just a normal administrative procedure,” he said.
When he was contacted, Okah confirmed the suspension but said the president of the state, according to the constitution of the party, had no power to suspend him.
Latest Nageria newspaper report that APC leaders and members in Ward 7 Oredo have been locked in a fierce battle for supremacy for control of party structure. The state governor, Godwin Obaseki, belongs to the neighborhood.
