Atiku Abubakar, Democratic candidate of the People Democratic Party of 2019, PDP, reacted on Saturday to the arrest of the presidential candidate of the AAC, Omoyele Sowore, by agents of the Department of State Services, DSS.
GISTOK had reported that Sowore, the #RevolutionNow Protests convener, was picked up at his apartment in the early hours of Saturday.
The politician posted a distress tweet at precisely 1:25 in the morning that says: “DSS invades Sowore.” Later, he added another tweet that could be a confirmation that his phone must have been seized while trying to give the alarm about his arrest.
Reacting, Atiku while condemning the arrest on his Twitter page, said freedom of expression is the “substructure of democracy.”
He tweeted: “Freedom of expression is not only constitutionally guaranteed, but it is also the substructure of our democracy. “These kidnappings disguised as arrests are doomed.”
