WAEC official confirms Buhari result
A senior West African Examination Council (WAEC) official confirmed the authenticity of the copy of the Cambridge University school certificate presented by President Buhari on Tuesday.
This happened when the official, Oshindeinde Henry Adewunmi, appeared Wednesday before the Presidential Election Petition Court as a witness to President Muhammadu Buhari.
GISTOK recalls that President Buhari had opened his defense on Tuesday in the case instituted by Atiku Abubakar and the People Democratic Party (PDP) that challenges Buhari’s victory in the 2019 presidential elections.
As part of their claims, Atiku and PDP argue that Buhari did not have the high school certificate that should qualify him to compete for the office of president in Nigeria.
Buhari called Adewunmi as his first witness for the second day of his defense before the electoral tribunal. Adewunmi identified himself as the Deputy Registrar in charge of the school exam in Nigeria.
He said he has been with WAEC for 30 years and confirmed that for the result, Buhari sat for eight subjects and earned five credits.
He listed topics such as English C5, History C3, Geography C6, Hausa C5, Health Sciences C6, and noted that it could not be said that a person with such a certificate has not attended high school.
