Governor Bala Mohammed, of the state of Bauchi, presented on Thursday a list of 20 nominees to the House of State Assembly for approval as commissioners; just as the dispute over the Presidency of the Chamber remains unresolved.
The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that the list, composed of 19 men and one woman, was read on the floor of the House by the majority leader, Bello Jadori, (APC Katagum) during the plenary.
Those whose names were presented were; Abdulkadir Ibrahim, Ladan Salihu, Jadauna Miami, Mohammed Sadiq, Sarki Aliyu, Umar Sade, Aminu Gamawa, Usman Mohammed, Nura Soro, and Modbbo Abdulkadir.
The list also included Umar Adamu, Yakubu Kirfi, Turaki Manga, Adamu Ahmed, Hamisu Shira, Aliyu Tilde, Samaila Burga, Abdulrazak Zaki, Auwal Jatau, as well as the only nominee, Ms. Hajara Itas.
There is an ongoing dispute over the Presidency of the Chamber between Abukakar Suleiman and the former immediate president, Kawuwa Damina, all of them, members of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The dispute had resulted in the intervention of the National Assembly (NASS) that sent a committee to Bauchi, led by Sarki Adar, on an investigative mission.
Meanwhile, NASS has given the governor 30 days of ultimatum to issue a new proclamation for another election of the President.
