Benue guber: How Senator Abba Moro reacted to Gov. Ortom’s victory at Appeal Court

Abba Moro, senator representing the South Senatorial District of Benue, congratulated the state governor, Samuel Ortom, on Thursday for his victory in the Court of Appeals.

Moro also congratulated the people of the state and the Popular Democratic Party, PDP, for what he described as “resounding victory.”

DAILY POST had reported that the Court of Appeals in Abuja on Thursday confirmed the election of Governor Samuel Ortom of the state of Benue.

The court dismissed the appeal filed by the Congress of All Progressives (APC) and its candidate in the poll, Emmanuel Jime, for lack of merit.

The court also awarded the sum of N150,000 fine against Jime.

However, Moro, in a statement signed by his spokesman, Godwin Ameh, said the verdict of the “Court of Appeals, which confirmed the election of Governor Ortom, is a testament to the fact that no man can grant power except God.”

The brief statement says: “The Judgment has further confirmed that Governor Samuel Ortom was overwhelmingly voted by the people of the state during the last governor’s elections, and cannot be uprooted by the back door.

“Comrade Senator praises the judiciary for a solid trial, which has also shown that the people of the state of Benue gave their support to Governor Ortom in the last elections.

“The senator calls on the aggrieved for the outcome of the elections and the various trials of the courts to bury the past and join Governor Ortom to work for a better Benue.

“The senator will continue working with Governor Ortom to take the state of Benue to greater heights.”
