Buhari sends message to British Prime Minister

President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for his resounding electoral victory in the general elections of the United Kingdom.

The president in a statement signed by Garba Shehu, his spokesman, said Britain has been a reliable and historically unique ally of Nigeria, and has particularly supported the efforts of this administration to improve security and recover stolen assets in the United Kingdom .

President Buhari said he hopes “to continue working with the Prime Minister to forge a stronger relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, especially in the area of trade and economic alliances that greatly benefits the citizens of both countries.”

He wished: “Prime Minister Johnson has the best of luck as he navigates the people of Great Britain through the decisive period of leaving the European Union.”
