President Muhammadu Buhari’s assistant on social media issues, Lauretta Onochie, has reacted to Senator Rochas Okorocha call for the reduction of legislators in Nigeria.
Latest Nigeria newspaper report that Okorocha revised on Thursday the reduction of parliamentarians representing each state of the federation, saying that the nation can no longer pay its expenses.
Okorocha, a former governor representing the Imo West Senate District, stated this while contributing to a report by the MTEF Committee at the plenary session on Thursday in the Senate.
He criticized the bicameral legislature, saying there was nothing too sacrosanct that senators and members of the House of Representatives were doing that only senators could not do.
“Sir. President of the Senate, distinguished colleagues, tell us the truth. Look at the number of members of the House of Representatives and senators.
“For me, what is too important that a member of the House is making a senator from the same state not doing?” It is time for us to sacrifice ourselves, and I want to say that a Senator is enough to represent a State to reduce costs. We must make sacrifices for the nation. ”
Reacting, Onochie went to his Twitter page, congratulating Okorocha for his suggestion in the Senate. According to her, Okorocha said what the Nigerians think.
Onochie wrote: “I never thought we would hear this on the floor of our National Assembly. In Nigeria, Woohoo!
“I must applaud Senator Okorocha for his bravery. I hope you said what most of the men and women of our Assembly think because you said what most Nigerians think. God bless Nigeria. ”
I never thought that we would hear this on the floor of our National Assembly. In Nigeria. Wow!
I must applaud Sen. Okorocha for his bravery. I hope he spoke the mind of the majority of our Assembly men and women because he spoke the mind of most Nigerians.
