Court told to sack all APC lawmakers in Ekiti

The 26 candidates of the Popular Democratic Party (PDP) in the election of the Chamber of the Ekiti State Assembly have dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before a Federal Supreme Court in Abuja.

They are seeking the annulment of the election of members of the Congress of All Progressives (APC) of the House of Assembly due to the alleged appearance as party candidates without primary election.

The complaint number FHC / ABJ / C5 / 556/19, submitted on behalf of the PDP assembly The candidates of May 24, 2019, by Mr. Oluwatosin Ojaomo, could not appear before

Judge A. R. Mohammed, today, since the judge was absent. Judge Mohammed, however, ordered that the matter be postponed until October 2, 2019.

Respondents wrote a letter to INEC through their attorney on May 16, 2019, requesting certified true copies of the results of the primary elections and other documents,

including the report of the commission on the conduct of the primary election of the House. of the APC Assembly in the state of Ekiti. . This request was not answered.

The 26 candidates of the PDP Assembly are seeking a court statement on whether or not the APC can legally nominate INEC candidates for

the Ekiti State Assembly 2019 House elections without holding a primary election for applicants who are they apply under the party as required by law.

Other resources sought are “A statement that the names of APC The candidates presented to the INEC for the purpose of participating in

the election of the 2019 Assembly Chamber in the state of Ekiti are null and void ab-initio since the APC does not have candidates duly nominated for the election.

“A statement that the INEC has the obligation to guarantee compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Law of 2010 (as amended).
