The veteran Nigerian rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, described the arrest of the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore by agents of the Department of State Services, DSS as “frankly cowardly and defeatist.”
GISTOK had reported that Sowore, the #RevolutionNow Protests convener, had been arrested in his apartment in the early hours of Saturday.
The politician posted a distress tweet at precisely 1:25 in the morning that says: “DSS invades Sowore.” Later, he added another tweet that could be a confirmation that his phone must have been seized while trying to give the alarm about his arrest.
However, reacting, Eedris on his Instagram page said: “The news of the ignorable arrest of the Revolution Now project coordinator, Femi Sowore is, to say the least, very unfortunate and equally ridiculous.”
“Arresting Mr. Sowore and trying to intimidate citizens is frankly cowardly and defeatist. Nigerians are tired of status quo and desire, or instead they demand real change. And no amount of intimidation or harassment will never change this.
“Revolution now is for all Nigerians, regardless of class, creed, or language … In fact and truth, the future of our land is in our hands.
“Therefore, it is essential to mention at this juncture that Femi Sowore’s arrest instead of throwing us into disarray as they had anticipated, they have been more successful in energizing and boosting our collective zeal. Go ahead, we march on August 5th. There is no way back.”
