EFCC docks man, two siblings over alleged cyber crime, internet fraud



The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office, arrested Oseghale Collins in hiding for an alleged cybercrime in the city of Benin, Edo state.

But Collins was arrested along with two brothers, Stephen and Fred Emefiele, also allegedly involved in Internet fraud. The Head of EFCC, Media and Advertising, Wilson Uwujaren, said this in a statement Sunday in Abuja.

Uwujaren added: “In his confessional statement, Collins stated that he specializes in BEC and that his modus operandi was to find the email addresses of his victims, especially the official commercial email addresses, create a phishing link and compromise the process. To defraud unsuspecting victims.

“When the Operators arrived at their department in the Government Reserve Area, GRA, in the city of Benin, they found what appears to be a workstation of laptops, printers, Internet modem, USB memory, with the which one’s operate.

“The Commission also recovered a Mercedes Benz ML 350 from the suspect. “The suspects have made useful statements and will be indicted in court as soon as the investigations are completed.”
