Solskjaer stated this while talking to reporters, after his pre-season friendly against AC Milan on Saturday. The position of captain of the United club has been vacant since Antonio Valencia left this summer.

David de Gea, Victor Lindelof, and Paul Pogba have been mentioned as possible successors of Valencia, but Solskjaer says the honor will be for Young.

“David is contentious, [but] Ash when he is in the field, will wear the bracelet. When Ash starts, he will wear the bracelet,” said the Norwegian.

Then Solskjaer was asked if this meant that Young could be considered the club captain, and he replied: “You can probably call it that.”
