Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that his preseason results mean nothing while waiting for his first Premier League game against Chelsea.
United have won their five friendlies this summer against Perth Glory, Leeds, Inter, Tottenham and Kristiansund.
But Solskjaer, before a clash with AC Milan in the International Champions Cup on Saturday, said the results were irrelevant before his team’s first game of the 2019-20 campaign against Chelsea at Old Trafford on August 11.
“We’re delighted with that. It’s been nice to see the boys return to the preseason in good shape. But, again, no points have been delivered, and it doesn’t matter when Chelsea comes to Old Trafford on August 11,” he told talkSPORT.
Solskjaer added: “We need to improve and we need to be better. The more we grow, and the more we develop, the higher the chances that we can play trophies at the end of the season.
“These boys have demonstrated their abilities. If we stay balanced, I can see ourselves improving a lot.”
