Arsenal manager Unai Emery has said he wants to see more of his players after his 1-0 victory at Newcastle kicked off his Premier League campaign.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the only goal in St James’ Park, as the Gunners collected maximum points. But Emery has demanded improved performance when they receive Burnley in the Emirates this Saturday.

“We need to improve. We were happy with the three points, and we played seriously, but I want to grow in each position for us.

“We need and can improve with the same players and other players who were out of that game.” My idea is to be more competitive in each position.

“We work very well that game, especially on the defensive we work very compact. The balance, we must improve,” Emery said at the press conference on Thursday.

Arsenal has already matched its Premier League clean sheet account for the entire last season, in the first game of this campaign. But Emery has urged better attack performance and said: “The accumulation should be better.

“We need better progress with our combinations, and we must be safer at all times when we pass the ball between us. “When we progress with the ball as a team, we can find better positions and solutions in the third attack.

“The clean sheet is essential, but the most important thing is to win. If we can win by scoring many goals, okay. If we can have a clean sheet in every game, it’s perfect. “
