Fake policeman nabbed with stolen car in Anambra

A fake policeman, identified as Hassan Abuka, was caught in Anambra with a Toyota Corolla car that was suspected of being stolen in Lagos.

SP Haruna Mohammed, Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police command who revealed this in a press release, said the indigenous Benue, 33, was traced to Anambra, using geographic location technology equipment.

Haruna said: “Around 4:30 pm, after an intelligence report, police officers attached to the Special Squadron against Command Theft (SARS) arrested in Ihiala, a 33-year-old Hassan Abuka’m’ from Otukpo, state of Benue, completely dressed as a policeman. Camouflage uniform with a DSP range and a 37-year-old Ismaila Ahmed’m’ also from Otukpo, Benue state.

“The suspects, who specialize in impersonating the police to deceive their victims, stole a Toyota Corolla car, registration number Lagos AGL 357 FC, from a victim not yet identified in Lagos and were geolocated in their hiding place in the state from Anambra.

“The exhibits recovered in his possession include the stolen vehicle and the additional license plate number of the Lagos FKJ 701 FR vehicle.”

Haruna said the suspects had voluntarily confessed to the crime and are helping the police with useful information that could help the investigation, after which they would be indicted in court for prosecution.
