An Ikeja trial court on Wednesday jailed a 43-year-old man, Amarachi Chukwuneke, at the Kirikiri Correctional Center, for allegedly desecrating his six-year-old daughter.
Latest Nigeria newspaper report that The chief magistrate, Ms. Olufunke Sule-Amzat, said Chukwuneke should be sent to the correctional center pending the advice of the Director of the Lagos State Prosecutor’s Office (DPP).
Sule-Amzat also ordered that the case file be sent to the DPP for advice. Chukwuneke, who resides at the Amuwo Odofin estate, in the Festac area of Lagos, is being tried for his daughter’s corruption.
Latest Nigeria newspaper report that The prosecutor, ASP Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the defendant committed the crime on November 4 at his residence. Emuerhi said the defendant contaminated his daughter for about six years, when his mother was not around.
“The mother noticed that the girl always cries every time she washes the private parts while bathing. He decided to take her to the hospital for a medical check-up, and it was at the hospital where it was confirmed that the child was contaminated.
Latest Nigeria newspaper report that The case was reported at the police station and the baby’s father was arrested for questioning,” the prosecutor told the court. The offense violated Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015. However, the defendant’s statement was not taken. The case was postponed until February 27, to mention.
