The Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved on Wednesday more than N19 billion for the construction of road projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the States of Oyo and Kano.
Latest Nigeria newspaper report that The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, revealed this when he informed the correspondents of the Chamber of States about the outcome of the Council meeting in Abuja.
He said: “The second memorandum we presented was for the award of three roads in Igboho-Oloko-Agbonle in the state of Oyo and Gulu to the city of Yaba between the Federal Capital Territory and the State of Niger, as well as Sharada to Madobi and Danbaure in the state of Kano.
“The Council approved these roads for N7.249 million for the first in Oyo, N7.593 for the second in Niger / FCT and N4.510 for the third in Kano.”
Fashola revealed that the Council also approved N523 million to complete the Efalaye-Erimo-Iwaraja highway linking the states of Ekiti and Osun.

“That road has been awarded since 2009 and the contractor has achieved approximately 85 percent of the work, so we are trying to complete that road, it had slowed down for previous years of insufficient budget.
“During that period, the price at which it was granted and the prices of today’s materials have changed significantly, so it requests a revision of N523,826,000, which has been approved.
Latest Nigeria newspaper report that He explained that the Ministry of Works also denounced the cabinet about the amount of roads that have been made so far in all states of the federation, saying that there are currently 524 roads in progress.
