Gov. Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun, announced on Saturday plans to turn model schools throughout the state into vocational skills acquisition institutions, as well as information and communication technology (ICT) centers.
Abiodun announced this in Abeokuta during an evaluation tour of ongoing projects in the state. He told reporters that the tour had been necessary to allow him to examine the conditions of the projects and the stages of their completion.
The governor explained that the conversion of model schools would improve the updating of the digital transformation process of the state.
Abiodun, who observed that the structure of some of the model schools was defective, promised that they would be rectified soon.
“Our administration is committed to the digital transformation of the state and education will be given the highest priority to play a vital role in achieving this purpose.”
“Taxpayer funds have been committed to the construction of this structure, so we must use them wisely to ensure that we do not stop using any model school building,” he said.
He added that plans were underway to renovate at least one elementary school in each district throughout the state.
