Gov. Abiodun’s transport committee causing mayhem – Ogun lawmakers

The Ogun Assembly Chamber on Tuesday asked Governor Dapo Abiodun to dissolve the State Committee of Carriers after the expiration of his three-month term.

The Assembly, in its plenary in Abeokuta, said that “the illegal activities of the caregiver’s committee have become unbearable.” Some legislators elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) expressed dissatisfaction over the actions of the committee during the plenary.

The legislator is representing Odogbolu under the APC platform, the Hon. Atinuke Bello presented the motion for the dissolution of the committee and was seconded by HE. Sylvester Abiodun of Ijebu North 1.

Bello, who is the head of the whips, had previously hinted at the Assembly about the activities of the committee in his constituency, saying that the members, particularly the president, Mr. Sunday Adeniyi, had not done well.

“The committee was created to make peace among all transport unions, but instead of addressing the problem on the ground, it added to the issues.

“The activities of the state transport committee are becoming a threat to peace in the state, especially among transport unions,” he said.

In his presentation, the President, Mr. Olakunle Oluomo, indicated that he had received a series of petitions against the committee, adding that the Assembly was concerned about the safety of the lives and property of citizens.

Oluomo asked the chairman of the committee and the secretary, Mr. Tunji Akinosi, to appear before the Assembly on Thursday to answer the accusations against him.

DAILY POSTCARD recalls that Governor Dapo Abiodun, on June 17, dissolved the leadership of all transport unions in the state and formed a committee of 13 people to coordinate their activities.

The committee has been leveled with all kinds of corrupt practices without anyone noticing until the report was finally presented to the Assembly on Tuesday.
