Gov Ortom condemns killing of Taraba priest



The governor of the state of Benue, Samuel Ortom, condemns the murder of the Reverend Father David Tanko of the Catholic parish of San Pedro, Amadu, state of Taraba, by armed men.

The Nigeria newspaper report that The governor describes the murder of the priest as shocking, painful, and unfortunate. He pities the government and the people of the state of Taraba, particularly the Catholic Church for the sad incident.

Governor Ortom joins his Taraba counterpart, architect Darius Ishaku, to call for an end to the bloodshed between Jukun and Tiv in the state of Taraba. The governor says that only peace can guarantee significant development.

He urges security officers to arrest the murderers of the Reverend Father Tanko to face the consequences of his act. Governor Ortom comforts the family of the late Catholic priest and prays that God will grant him an internal rest.
