The legislator who represents Kogi West in the National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye, said that his decision to oppose the alleged autocratic leadership of the current administration escaped him from four assassination attempts between 2018 and 2019.
Melaye, who spoke Wednesday at a press conference in Lokoja to declare his ambition as governor, said he would not stop criticizing the Yahaya Bello government led by APC until the right thing is done for the people.
He noted that his criticisms of the current administration also led to his reading of charges in 18 different courts in one year.
The federal legislator in revealing the reasons why Kogi had not yet met with other states in terms of development, said the state lacks visionary leaders who can transform ideas into meaningful progress.
He described himself as a political general, adding that it was not true that he was working for a particular candidate before the November 16 government polls.
Melaye added that he remains the best candidate to fly the ticket of the Democratic People’s Party (PDP) to challenge the governor in office who, according to him, has continued to impoverish people in the past three and a half years.
His words: “I will challenge Governor Bello, bomber to bomber. I cannot be intimidated by the constant harassment of the APC-led government.
“I am using this medium to challenge the NUJ to organize a debate among all applicants competing for the number one seat in this state.
I am very convinced that some candidates will be removed from here with an ambulance because they have no idea. Other applicants have money that idea, but Dino Melaye has a plan that money. “
