Young people under the auspices of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, around the world have said they are not part of the call for the looting of the Niger Delta Minister of Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Latest Nigeria newspaper report that The youth said the turmoil was detrimental to the development of the Niger Delta region. IYC spokesman Daniel Dasimaka said in a statement Friday that Ijaw’s youth were firmly behind Akpabio and had no reason to demand his expulsion.

Dasimaka said: “The ICA is satisfied with the movements that Senator Akpabio has taken so far as minister of the Niger Delta. We welcome the call to audit the activities of the NDDC and to relocate the Commission and other MDAs with responsibilities to develop our region.

“We are all aware of the incredible transformation that the minister brought to Akwa Ibom in his eight years as governor, and we want to see him replicate the same throughout the region.

“Therefore, there is no way for the IYC or any young person in our region seeking development to ask for the looting of a positive change agent like Sen Akpabio.

Latest Nigeria newspaper report that The call for looting is the work of impostors who want to take advantage of the influence and credibility of the IYC to boost their agenda. And for the avoidance of doubt, Barrister Pereotubo Oweilaemi is the President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC). “
