The Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers says it fully supports Governor Emeka Ihedioha’s plan to investigate the administration of former Governor Rochas Okorocha.
The Nigeria newspaper report that the president of the council, Eze Samuel Ohiri, revealed this to reporters on Wednesday, at the end of an emergency council meeting where the resolution was taken.
He said that after a critical examination of Imo’s situation, the council considered it essential that Okorocha is probed. Ohiri said the latest discovery that Okorocha allegedly spent N10 billion to build the police headquarters required a severe investigation.
He said: “After the emergency meeting of all traditional rulers, we decided to encourage Ihedioha to ensure that all government property illegally acquired by the former governor and his cronies were recovered in Imo.
“We also want to take this opportunity to call the Police Inspector General to return the money used in the construction of the police headquarters,” he said.
He said, “Imo has no money to spend on the Federal Government project,” adding that “FG is supposed to show its presence in Imo, not in Imo construction projects for FG.”
The royal father also warned Okorocha, representing the Imo West Senate District, to encourage his followers to cause problems in the state.
“Okorocha has finished his term as governor, and we are asking him to allow Ihedioha to govern the state without distractions,” he added.
