JAMB: How NIN will solve exam malpractices – NIMC

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) said Sunday that the adoption of the National Identification Number (NIN) as a criterion for all examinations in the country would address corrupt practices such as impersonation and promote transparency.

Latest Nigeria newspaper report that Hadiza Dagabana, interim general director of NIMC, Hadiza Dagabana, told Latest Nigeria newspaper  that although the registration for NIN had already begun at the elementary school education level across the country, it should be encouraged to increase confidence in the nation’s examination system further.

She said doing so will help stop phishing and added that registration processes for NINs should be mandatory before registration for public exams.

“In the case of JAMB, there are problems, there are impersonations, and they were looking for ways to remedy those problems and mitigate them.

Latest Nigeria newspaper report that The only way to identify a person who presents for the JAMB exam is with their identification number issued by JAMB.

“The communication is before you go and register at JAMB, make sure you have your national identification number (NIN) because that is what will identify you.

“And you know how good it is at the time that JAMB and all other educational stakeholders meet and decide to use NIN, which means that from that period until the time you get any certificate in your life, NIN will be will assign

“So, if you get your ID, that’s what will link you to all the things you do in your life.

“For those categories of people under 16, we link their registration because their biometric data is not yet fully formed with the identity of their parents or guardians.

Meanwhile, JAMB last week advised candidates wishing to write the UTME 2020 to visit the office of the closest National Identity Management Commission to have their data captured.

Latest Nigeria newspaper report that He said that candidates must register for the National Identification Number as a prerequisite to writing the 2020 exam.

“All candidates who wish to take the UTME 2020 must have the National Identification Number. Prospective candidates are urged to visit the nearest NIMC office for capture. The board would only register candidates with NIN, ”he added.
