Ten Nigerians still to be identified, detained in a prison in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, have escaped from prison.
Reports, according to the Indian Business Standard, said that Nigerians who were detained by Gautam Buddh Nagar police broke the jail on Thursday. However, some of them have been recaptured.
The General Director of the Police of the Meerut area, said: “Some inmates escaped due to the negligence of the guard and some of them were caught later, action was taken against the personnel, who is responsible”.
Uttar Pradesh police arrested 60 foreigners on Wednesday who reportedly lived in India without valid travel documents or suspected of involvement in criminal activities.
They were arrested during the course of “Operation Clean 10”, aimed at capturing foreign citizens living in the region of the national capital.
