The Electoral Tribunal that sat in Kaduna on Saturday dismissed the petition filed by the Popular Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Lawal Adamu Usman, against Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Nageria newspaper report that Sani won the February senatorial elections for Central Kaduna. In issuing sentence, the President of the Court, Judge A.H. Suleiman said the petitioner could not support his request since the evidence presented was based on rumors.
He argued that the PDP candidate could not prove any of his accusations of corrupt practices, about voting and electoral violence.
Reacting, Usman, through a statement by his spokesman, Abdulazeez Sulaiman, said: “Today we are more convinced of the beauty of democracy that provides judicial avenues to seek reparation.
“As registered democrats, we never doubt the impartiality of the judiciary, although humans, judges, also have their prejudices. The justice system involves several steps, and we will explore all the windows available for the final stage.”
