Kogi: Buhari’s minister reacts as Gov Yahaya Bello chooses Onoja to replace Achuba as Deputy

The Minister of State of the FCT, Dr. Ramatu Aliyu, praised the appearance of Chief Edward Onoja, as Deputy Governor of the State of Kogi, after the dismissal of Mr. Simon Achuba by the State Assembly.

Latest Nigeria newspaper report that the Chief Judge of the State of Kogi, Judge Nasir Ajanah, established a seven-member investigation panel to investigate allegations of serious misconduct against the Lieutenant Governor, Simon Achebe.

The panel president, Mr. John Baiyeshea, presented the report to the President of the Kogi House of Assembly, Mr. Matthew Kolawole, in the plenary session, which led to the removal of the former vice-governor.

Latest Nigeria newspaper report that However, Onoja swore on Saturday as the new deputy governor of the state even though the panel report did not find Achuba guilty of the accusations.

Reacting, Aliyu, in a statement issued by his Special Media Assistant, Mr. Austine Elemue, described Onoja’s election as a perfect political combination for the state and the ruling All Progressive Party (APC) in the 16th governor’s elections of November.

Aliyu also described the relationship between Governor Yahaya Bello and Onoja as reliable and friendly and noted that their relationship preceded Bello’s appearance in 2016.
