Kogi guber: PDP sends message to banks against granting Gov. Yahaya Bello loan

The People Democratic Party, PDP, has asked Nigeria’s commercial banks to be prudent in granting loans or any form of credit to the administration headed by Governor Yahaya Bello in Kogi state.

Latest Nigeria newspaper report that PDP explained that the state was not willing to assume any responsibility for such facilities when Bello took office on November 16, 2019.

A statement by PDP spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan warned financial institutions to keep in mind that Bello and his administration have a “Caveat Emptor badge and that the people of Kogi are not ready to inherit their financial responsibilities.”

The opposition party claimed that Governor Bello plans to trick banks into granting state loans, after which the heads of the All Progressive Congress, APC, would divert him to private accounts.

The statement says: “The party draws the attention of commercial banks on the fact that Yahaya Bello cannot climb the obstacles of the governor’s election on November 16 following the consensus of the people to vote in the PDP candidate, Engr Musa Wada, as its next governor.

“We warn that caution is a consequence of the information we have at our disposal on the alleged intentions of the Bello administration to trick commercial banks into granting huge loans, under certain hazy conditions and conditions, after which the money would be wasted by APC leaders and cronies, the administration.

“Our party wants the nation to keep in mind that the people of the state of Kogi can no longer accept mortgages on the future of the state by Yahaya Bello, whose administration has become the most wasteful in the history of our nation and which cannot explain for more than N700 billion Kogi funds released in the last four years.

“Any person or organization in partnership with Yahaya Bello is directly supporting the torture and impoverishment of the people of the state of Kogi by the Bello administration, which has manifested such insensitivity in payment to workers up to 36 months of arrears. salary

“For our part, the PDP is committed to administer a prudent, transparent and productive administration where social welfare and economic empowerment of people are paramount; where wages are paid promptly, where infrastructure development in critical sectors occupies a central place and
where the responsibility is the slogan.

“In this regard, the PDP urges all financial surveillance organizations to join the people of the state of Kogi to monitor all monetary activities of the Bello administration, as well as all entrances to state coffers, in particular, the federal reimbursement of N10.06 billion, which the PDP insists on must be declared and channeled directly for the payment of wages in order not to allow the APC leader ring to achieve its plan to divert and steal money for its selfish purposes. “
