Before the election of the Governor of Kogi State, the state chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Mutar Atimah, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to call on Governor Yahaya Bello to order the behavior of his supporters.
Atimah told the party’s faithful on Monday at the official opening of the party’s secretariat in Lokoja that the conference became necessary given the constant attacks against members of the SDP in the state in recent times.
He said that Governor Kogi should urgently call his followers to order to avoid the consequence that could follow if the attacks continue.
“Let it be clear to the Governor that nobody has a monopoly on violence. “No one should blame SDP when it decides to defend itself,” he warned.
According to the president, no intimidation will be enough to prevent SDP taking over from Bello, since the people of Kogi have had enough of their mismanagement.
Atimah asked the Governor to focus on making life more comfortable for people through timely payment of wages and providing adequate security to improve people’s standard of living.
He said the SDP is here to stay and is ready to take control of Lugard House in the Governor’s election on November 16.
However, in a quick reaction, Kingsley Fanwo, who is the Director-General of Media and Publicity for the Governor of Kogi State, said that “Kogi is safe for everyone. We do not support attacking anyone, and most accusers make false claims to gain sympathy. Kogi is more reliable than five years ago. “
