Lagos court remands cultists over alleged homicide

On Thursday, a court of chief magistrates of Ebute Meta remitted two alleged cultists, Bunun, Yusuf, 22, and Daniel Ademola, 19, in prison for alleged murder.

I am rejecting your request, Chief Magistrate O.O. Olatunji ordered that the suspects be remanded to Ikoyi Prison.

Olatunji ordered the police to return the case file to the Director of the Lagos State Public Prosecutor’s Office (DPP) for legal advice. He postponed the case until August 20 on the advice of DPP.

The Office of the Prosecutor, Insp. Oladele Adebayo told the court that the defendants committed the crime on May 31, at Idi Aba Street, Ojota.

Adebayo alleged that the defendants shot Daniel Akomolaye in the head from behind with a locally-made gun.

He said that the crime contravenes the provisions of articles 41 and 223 of the Criminal Law of the State of Lagos, 2015, reports NAN.
