The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has postponed the planned road closure in the Yaba area of the state. LASTMA spokesman, Mr. Olumide Filade, announced this to Latest Nageria newspaper on Wednesday night.

Latest Nageria newspaper report that the authority in a travel advisory had announced the closure of the road at the railroad level crossing in Yaba after the ongoing construction of the Lagos-Ibadán standard width railway line.

According to the travel notice previously available, the level crossing will be closed from 8:00 p.m. Wednesdays at 1:00 a.m. Thursdays

However, LASTMA, in a statement Tuesday night, said that the Civil Engineering Construction Company of China (CCECC) has just hinted to the state government that the work planned at the level crossing had been postponed.
“The construction company that works on the Ibadan-Lagos standard rail line project has just notified the state government that the works planned at the Yaba railroad crossing have been suspended for reasons beyond their control.

Latest Nageria newspaper report that The company, therefore, presented an unreserved apology for all the inconveniences that the previously announced closure must have caused to the road users within the axis.

“CCECC, at this moment, asserts that the postponement of railway works was inevitable and promises that adequate notice will be provided in the future so that the users of the Lagos road can plan their trip.”
