Kingsley Moghalu, the 2019 Young Progressive Party presidential candidate, YPP, intervened in the arrest of the revolution now protest convener, Omoyele Sowore.
GISROK recalls that DSS arrested Sowore over the weekend after he called a national protest organization against what he described as a corrupt government.
The arrest of the 2019 presidential candidate of the AAC has provoked reactions from well-intentioned Nigerians. The protest, labeled “Revolution Now,” was planned for Monday, August 5.
In reaction to the arrest of his former rival, in a post on his Twitter page, Moghalu urged the DSS to release Sowore, even when he described the state of the nation as “sad.”
The former presidential candidate urged President Muhammadu Buhari to request a dialogue with the convenors of Sowore and RevolutionNow to “allow for real electoral reforms.”
According to him, “our compatriots and suffering sufferers have the right to express their disappointment with the unfortunate state of our country in a peaceful manner. From security to the economy, we are on edge.
“Aso Rock should embrace the dialogue, free Omoyele Sowore and allow REAL electoral reforms.
“I remain committed to a democratic revolution at the polls. In that regard, I urge all Nigerians to mobilize and demand fundamental reforms to our electoral system, including electronic voting, to ensure transparency, efficiency, and legitimacy in our electoral processes. “
