A cleric, Joel Bamimore, took his wife, Mary, on Thursday to a customary court in Mapo in Ibadan, seeking dissolution of his 19-year marriage for alleged infidelity.

Nigeria News reports that Bamimore alleged that his wife took advantage of his disability to deceive him continuously.

He alleged that his father had trapped Mary in an uncompromising position with another man. “I have forgiven Mary’s adulterous behavior before. I can no longer tolerate it because I am also a pastor and for the sake of my well-being.

“On several occasions, Mary has hidden under the guise of going to the house of our senior pastor to help him find water and wash his clothes.

“One day, at the pastor’s house, I met them both in a compromising position and my initial fear was confirmed,” Bamimore said.

The defendant who denied all the accusations gave her consent for a divorce. Mary, who now lives in Oyo Town, said her biggest mistake in life was her decision to marry Bamimore, despite her parents’ warning.

“I am not an adulterer, I have lived with Bamimore with all sincerity and honesty. “The clergy she referred to as my lover is a true man of God, in fact, she generally gives her husband money to feed her family.

“It is true that he used to help the family of man with his tasks. “It has become my husband’s way of accusing me of adultery and shame in public, undressing and inflicting injuries,” Mary explained.

After hearing the testimonies, Chief Ademola Odunade, the president of the court, ordered them to present more evidence to support their arguments, noting that Pastor Bamimore was not being fair to his wife. He postponed the case until October 30 to continue the hearing.
