The driver of a commercial bus based in Ibadan, Hakeem Yusuf, told a Mapo Court in Ibadan on Thursday that he often strikes his wife, Ronke, because of his alleged infidelity and deception.
Hakeem’s testimony was in response to his wife’s accusation of the constant assault on Chief Ademola Odunade, the president of the court.
Hakeem, who agreed to the divorce petition filed by Ronke, alleged that he had married her ten years ago, without the slightest hint that she is an empty barrel.
“My lord, Ronke, and I were regular friends before she systematically encouraged me to marry her. “He lied to me that I was pregnant, and later I discovered that he had cheated on me.
“Ronke is such an unfaithful wife that no man should pray. “I have followed her to many scenes of her atrocities, and it is a disgrace for the condition of a woman.
“Ronke is currently married to our neighbor on the same street after she cheated on me to give her money to buy Maltina milk and drink.
“Ronke never lacked anything in my house, and I also gave him a half-life as a pharmacy owner,” Hakeem said.
In her previous testimony, Ronke told the court that her husband was possessive and found that he was monitoring his whereabouts within the community.
“The unnecessary suspicion that Hakeem has against me is the reason why he usually hits me even though I have no children with him for the past ten years.
“Hakeem is too troublesome, please, separate us,” Ronke begged the court. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the duo resides in the Fatusi area in Ibadan.
The president of the court held that, since he had observed that there was no more love between the couple, the best he could do was to allow both to follow separate paths “otherwise, there could be chaos since the marriage did not produce children.
