Niger Delta: Dickson blames oil companies for pollution

Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has accused International Oil Companies (IOCs) for debasing the overwhelmingly swampy Niger Delta condition through oil and gas investigation and generation.

In an announcement issued on Saturday by Mr. Fidelis Soriwei, the Special Adviser, Media Relations to Dickson, the senator expressed this when he got the Green Wheel Award by the Rotary International District 9141.

He said the senator had communicated dismay over what he portrayed as the lack of care of worldwide oil organizations to the situation of their host networks in the Niger Delta area.

Spoken to by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ebipadei Apaingolo, Dickson denounced the global oil firms for audaciously annihilating the Niger Delta condition.

He asserted that the IOCs worked without adherence to universally accepted procedures.

The senator, who repeated his responsibility to battling ecological corruption, noticed that the dispatch of ‘Ascend For Bayelsa Campaign’ was to pull in worldwide consideration regarding the impacts of oil contamination in the state.

He said the commission was introduced to research the environmental, wellbeing, financial, social and human harm brought about by tasks of both neighborhood and worldwide oil organizations.

Dickson looked for the association of Rotary International and other nearby and worldwide gatherings to help his organization’s endeavors towards tending to the natural difficulties standing up to the general population of Niger Delta locale.
