Torino has confirmed the signature of Nigeria fullback Ola Aina of Chelsea. The president of the Italian side of Serie A, Urbano Cairo, announced that they have an agreement established for the versatile defender.
Cairo confirmed that Torino had taken advantage of a purchase option to sign the Super Eagles star in a permanent agreement. He told Football Italia: “We exchanged Aina for 10 million euros, as well as Cristian Ansaldi and Koffi Djidji, now Torino owns all of its players.”
At this moment, Aina becomes the most expensive Nigerian fullback in history. He broke the record held by Celestine Babayaro, who was bought by Chelsea for 2.25 million pounds in 1997. Aina spent last season on loan with Torino, playing 30 games while finishing seventh on the table. He is currently in the Super Eagles camp preparing for the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
