Osun guber: What Fayemi said as Oyetola defeats Adeleke in Supreme Court



Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State congratulated his Osun State counterpart, Gboyega Oyetola, on the Supreme Court ruling that confirmed his (Oyetola’s) victory as the governor of the validly elected state.

In response to Friday’s decision, Fayemi described it as an affirmation of the popular will, “as expressed through his votes in the 2018 governor’s election in the state.”

The Governor, who said this in a statement issued by his Chief of Press, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, also congratulated the Congress of All Progressives (APC) and the people of Osun for maintaining calm and optimism throughout the judicial process .

He urged Oyetola to be magnanimous in victory and extend a hand of communion to his opponents in an attempt to advance the state.

“It’s a great day for democracy. The highest court in the country finally resolved the controversies surrounding Osun’s election as governor and affirmed Governor Oyetola as the true winner of the election.

“Cordial congratulations to my brother Governor, Oyetola. “A major congratulation to the people of the state of Osun, who are the true winners in the context,” he said.

Fayemi said he was convinced that Oyetola would take the state to the next level of development and prosperity, given his record “as an astute administrator of men and resources and as a leader who has a genuine passion for development.”

Similarly, APC Southwest leaders have hailed the outcome of the case. The party noted that the ruling showed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s determination to get rid of the nation’s judiciary of manipulative tendencies is paying off.

In a statement on Ado Ekiti, Chief Karounwi Oladapo, APC’s Secretary of Southwest Zonal Advertising, said the victory would stop further distractions in the state of Osun and increase the party’s chances in the area.
