The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) in Imo West has rejected the ruling of the court requesting elections in the senatorial election of March 9, 2019 in the area.
The party described the ruling as unacceptable, a judicial error and a violation of democracy.
Latest Nigeria Newspaper reports that the court sitting in Abuja had upheld the declaration of the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Okorocha, as the survey winner.
Speaking yesterday with reporters in Owerri, the president of the Imo West PDP, chief Alloy Igwe, insisted that the election was marred by violence and irregularities and, as such, should not have been maintained.
He said the party would support his candidate, Jones Onyeriri, to seek a better trial in the Court of Appeals that would represent the true mandate of the people.
“We feel very bad about the trial. We consider him as one who has deprived people of their right to participate in politics. It is a violation of people’s representation, “he said.
