Two suspects, including an army defector, were arrested by police in Adamawa for robbing a woman of her car at gunpoint.
Adamawa Police Command spokesman DSP Suleiman Yahaya confirmed the development to reporters on Tuesday in Yola.
Yahaya said the defector, Dompa Hyellambamun and an Emmanuel Adeka had approached a woman in the early hours of Tuesday around the crossing of targets in Yola, where they fired four shots scareing her to deliver her car.
“He immediately reported the incident to our men who patrolled the area, who, in collaboration with some surveillance personnel, followed the suspects and arrested them.
“The vehicle was recovered. The AK 47 rifle with 35 rounds of ammunition and a military uniform were also recovered.
“One of the suspects presented himself as a soldier and he was sent to Monguno in Borno for a special service, from where he abandoned his duty,” said Yahaya.
