Police arrest suspected internet fraudsters in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has arrested a gang of three notorious Internet scammers operating in the state.

Latest Nigeria newspaper report that Alhaji Adamu Usman, the Police Commissioner (CP), in the state, disclosed in an interview with Latest Nigeria newspaper in Minna on Tuesday.

He said the State Intelligence Office of the command arrested the suspects while operating in one of the hotels in the metropolis, cheating unsuspecting members of the public. According to him, the three male suspects are between 22 and 26 years old.

Latest Nigeria newspaper report that The CP said the suspects specialized in defrauding unsuspecting Internet users through fraudulent advertisements of job opportunities, school admissions, and product sales, among others.

“The suspects confessed to the crime since the evidence recovered from them includes three laptops and six mobile phones,” Usman said.

He said the three suspects had been charged in court. However, he assured members of the public that the police would continue to improve the safety of lives and property in the state.
