Chief Davies Ikanya, former state president of the Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC), advised the People Democratic Party (PDP) and his presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubaka, on Thursday to support the president’s “next level” agenda Muhammadu Buhari, rather than moving forward to appeal his victory in the Election Petition Court.

Ikanya, in an interview with the Nigeria News  in Port Harcourt, said the court ruling was an impressive sign of hope in the judiciary.

“I am impressed with Wednesday’s decision by the Presidential Election Petition Court, that decision was indeed laborious.

“The judges were very thorough and meticulous in dealing with all the issues raised in the petition and the counters.

“Then, having obtained this kind of judgment in this country, it means that the hope of the common man will be restored in the judiciary.

“Personally, I really don’t see the need for an appeal, except in order to conclude a judicial process,” he told NAN.

“Anyway, it is their right, they are free to continue and appeal, but my opinion is that they should save financial and intellectual strength and hope to move our country forward.

“Especially now that the president has extended the olive branch to the opposition, asking them to join to work for the country.

“I think they should pay attention to that clarion call and join hands with the president to take our country to the next level.”

The party leader, therefore, congratulated the judiciary and the Nigerians, saying that the ruling was a victory for the nation.

“I want to congratulate the judiciary for this historic trial, I also want to congratulate the Nigerians and even the lawyers who represented the opposition Popular Democratic Party (PDP), they all did their best.

“The good thing is that justice was done to the Nigerians and our great leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was voted by the Nigerians and has been confirmed duly elected.

“Yesterday I heard an analyst, a very important lawyer and advised the PDP and his presidential flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, not to bother appealing the ruling in the Supreme Court.

According to the lawyer, there will be something anyone could do to reverse the ruling, “he said.

Ikanya also said that the court in addition to giving victory to a deserving president has also ended the saga of the certificate.

“Yesterday’s sentence not only confirmed that the president was qualified to serve in his capacity, but that he was” highly qualified. ”

“This is a retired general in the Nigerian army, who had attended several courses, the Nigerians are only doing politics on this subject.

“We all know that all personnel who rose in rank in the army are good because they are very well trained and President Muhammadu Buhari is one of those sensible minds,” said Ikanya.
