This is contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Police Officer (PPRO) DSP Bala Elkana on Sunday.

Elkana said the Festac police station on Thursday received a distress call from a service station in 2nd Rainbow, Festac, that an armed robber was spotted throughout the area.

“An investigation is underway to determine where and how he obtained the military uniform with which he operates and also to identify other members of his gang.

“It is not yet known whether he belongs to the gang of fired soldiers arrested a few weeks ago. The suspect will be indicted in court as soon as the investigation is finished,” he said.

In the same development, the Bariga Division patrol team has saved two people, Abiodun Balogun, 32, and a woman, Odisha Ginika, 21, from dying from gas poisoning.

Elkana said the patrol team noted that the occupants were unconscious in the driver and passenger seats of a black Hyundai vehicle parked along Shobande Street, Akoka.

He said they were rushed to the hospital for medical attention, while the vehicle was removed from the scene for inspection. They were resurrected by the medical team on call and then released from the hospital.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the man is an Uber driver while the lady is his passenger. They were unconscious as a result of a poisonous chemical gas they inhaled due to leaks from the air conditioning system,” said the DSP.
