Atlético de Madrid has issued a statement saying that the 120 million euros paid by Antoine Griezmann at the offices of La Liga on Friday afternoon is not enough.
Barcelona officially announced Griezmann as its new addition today, shortly after its lawyers deposited the money at the headquarters of the League in Madrid.
But Atletico insists that an agreement was reached between Barcelona and Griezmann before its launch clause dropped from 200 million euros to 120 million euros on July 1.
“The amount deposited is insufficient to pay for its release clause because it is obvious that the agreement between the club and Barcelona was made before its rate went down from € 200 to € 120 million.”
“Atlético de Madrid understands that the contract was broken before the end of last season, based on the facts, actions and statements of the player and, therefore,
the club has initiated the procedure it considers appropriate to defend your rights and legitimate interests. “Atleti is disgusted by the behavior of Barcelona and the player, and particularly Barcelona, to induce a player to break their
contractual relationship with Atlético de Madrid at a time of the season in which the club played, not only a draw in the Champions League against Juventus, but also the League title against Barcelona itself, “the statement said.
