The Electoral Petitions Court that met in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday overturned the election of Senator Dayo Adeyeye of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Adeyeye is the President of the Senate Media Commission.
Latest Nigeria Newspaper report that The court, in a unanimous trial, declared the former Minority Leader and the Popular Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Biodun Olujimi, winner.
Justice D.D. Adeck ruled that Olujimi was able to convince the panel for his reasons. Olujimi had submitted that he obtained the highest number of legal votes cast during the highly contested poll. He prayed to the court to completely annul Adeyeye’s victory.
Latest Nigeria Newspaper report that In her written speech, the petitioner alleged that the election was not carried out in substantial compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Laws, having allegedly been charged with all forms of irregularities, such as the printing of multiple blows, theft of ballots, ballot filling and improper ballot counting.
Latest Nigeria Newspaper also report that The petitioner also accused INEC of breach of duties, saying that most of the documents used to carry out the election were not duly signed by the agents.
