The governor of the state of Imo, Emeka Ihedioha, has told Nigerians not to see the current investigation of his predecessor, Rochas Okorocha, as an act of witch-hunting.
Ihedioha stated this while talking to journalists in Yola, the state capital of Adamawa, after he made a sympathy visit to the state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, for the death of his father.
The governor said he was waiting for the result of the investigation report and insisted that such an investigation was necessary to improve the state of Imo.
Ihedioha also clarified that the recent revelations about the recovery of N1.2bn and some properties by the state government from the immediate past administration did not emanate from him.
The governor said: “I don’t think I said all those things because I’m not hunting the former governor with witches.
“We established a committee that is doing all those things. “The conclusions of the committee have not been known to me. This (research) is to improve Imo State now.”
