Xenophobic attacks: Emir Sanusi explains why he traveled to South Africa



Kano’s Emir, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi ii, had clarified that he was in South Africa a day before the violence erupted that resulted in a diplomatic dispute between Nigeria and the country.

Latest Nigeria newspaper rport that  The Emir said in an exclusive interview with the Latest Nigeria newspaper by phone that: “I arrived at SA on Tuesday morning and attended the World Economy Forum on Wednesday, not knowing what was happening.

He said: “I went there in two categories: one at the invitation of a friend and the second for my personal ability to deliver a document in the forum, both me and those who invited us, we all boycotted the conference immediately. Diplomatic dispute.

Emir Sanusi added that “since we learned about violence against Nigerians, we never went back to the forum and in fact, I will return home tomorrow.” President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have already agreed not to visit South Africa under the climate of xenophobic attacks.
